Why My Person Smiles
Jan. 6th, 2007 08:35 pmMy person does a lot of writing. Write, write, write. Most of that time I'm certain she should be applying her energy toward listening to my ears, but no. She loves that laptop computer. It even has a name, but it is not as clever as my name.
Carbon Unit.
Actually, my entire name is Xtacee's Carbon Unit CGC, because I was born into that kennel. But Carbon Unit is the important part. And it matches my color. (CGC is important, too. It means I have a special certificate for passing the Canine Good Citizen test.)
Although come to think of it, my personal name, Kacey, comes from one of those books. I understand that the character is a smart, capable person with a sharp tongue who doesn't do what everyone else thinks she should do. I wonder how my person knew?
So sometimes the writing is a useful resource, I have to admit.
Here is the good writing news my person has from the last month:
The next edition of NOSE FOR TROUBLE is almost ready. I still think she made a mistake with this one. Why use a Beagle for one of the main characters? I can't tell what she's thinking sometimes. But here's the new cover:
Ànd there is other good news. This made my person smile for days and days and...I think maybe it still happens. Once she wrote a first book. It won an award. But then the publisher didn't make any more of them. People asked and asked, and mymom was very sad, but there weren't any.
But now there will be!
My person's book DUN LADY'S JESS will be published again by the new Star Ink imprint of Fitzhenry and Whiteside. They specialize in classy packaging. Possibly even as classy as myself. The new version will be a trade paperback. It will have French flaps.
*ahem*
"A book with French flaps indicates a trade paperback with long covers which are folded inwards."
Who knew? But it sounds special. My person likes it.
And now my person has news from yesterday. This has been a busy month, I think. Yesterday she learned that she sold two books. They will be in a line called Nocturne, which means my person will be writing paranormal. She has shapeshifters, but I understand she is not having her characters shapeshift to be Cardigan Welsh Corgis.
Tsk.
